HARNESS THE ENERGY TRANSITION AND NET-ZERO

The a lack of a fair energy transition is a major barrier to opportunity.

The transition to a net zero version of Britain is a unique opportunity to see new careers and new roles but in the very places where they can make the most difference.

People and the planet are two sides of the same coin. As we progress further with the energy transition it will become an ever more fundamental part of the debate on levelling up. Investment in the green economy is already bringing brand new opportunities to areas across the country; and it’s crucial that the transition is one that is equitable for people and communities everywhere.

Measures:

• Proportion of UK energy supplied from low carbon sources (ONS)

• UK’s annual total greenhouse gas emissions, per million tonnes (ONS)

These measures have been developed by the Purpose Coalition and in consultation with the Office for National Statistics.
