LOCAL AUTHORITIES

The local authorities that work with The Purpose Coalition work together to share best practice and leadership on key issues, connect with major businesses, and work on innovative new solutions to support their local communities.

Alongside Rt Hon Justine Greening, our work with local authorities is led by Nick Forbes CBE, former Member of Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet and Senior Vice Chair of the Local Government Association.

“Local government is at the very heart of our communities - delivering every day for local residents. That’s why local authority leaders are working together to develop innovative and new solutions, and connect with major businesses to deliver for residents”

Nick is Chair of the Purpose Coalition's Breaking Down Barriers Commission, where he leverages his deep expertise in Labour politics to support the Purpose Coalition’s work and strengthen engagement with the Labour Government. He is a former leader of Newcastle City Council and has also served on Labour’s National Executive Committee and in Sir Keir Starmer’s Shadow Cabinet.
