Read: Channel 4 signs up to levelling framework
Channel 4 has partnered with former Education Secretary Rt Hon Justine Greening to measure its social impact against a new framework.
The partnership will see Channel 4 measure its activity against a new levelling up architecture launched earlier this year. The Levelling Up Goals are the UK’s first levelling up framework to focus efforts on driving equality of opportunity at key life stages, from early years through to leaving school, and other barriers that can reduce opportunity.
The 14 Levelling Up Goals provide a universal benchmark for organisations to measure their activity against. Some of the UK’s most purpose-led organisations, including Direct Line Group, Pennon Group, University of Lincoln and Sodexo, have already committed to measure their impact against the goals.
The partnership will see Channel 4 produce a Best Practice Report to map its work against the goals and share best practice.
Justine Greening said: “The Levelling Up Goals are the UK’s first levelling up architecture and give a clear benchmark for organisations to measure their impact against. Levelling Up is something that needs to be addressed throughout the UK and we need influential organisations and leaders at the forefront of the agenda.
“I’m thrilled to be working closely with the team at Channel 4 on a Best Practice Report. The challenge now is for more purpose-led organisations to do their bit to boost opportunity and social mobility as we recover from the pandemic.”
