Seeing social impact in action in the care sector – Purpose Coalition Engagement Director, Anne Milton, visits an Anchor care home to find out how it delivers opportunity

Purpose Coalition Engagement Director and former public health minister, Rt Hon Anne Milton, recently visited Linwood care home at Thames Ditton to see how Coalition partner, Anchor, is delivering a positive social impact for its community in Surrey.

Anne, who leads on the Coalition’s work with the health and social care sector was joined by Anchor Chief Executive, Sarah Jones. She was given a tour of Linwood and its facilities, chatting with residents and care colleagues to find out about life at the care home and the range of services it offers.

Anne Milton said:

“I trained as a nurse and worked in the NHS 25 years so I completely understand the contribution that high-quality, personalised care can make to people’s overall wellbeing. Today’s visit was a brilliant opportunity to hear and see first-hand how Anchor is focusing on the wellbeing of its residents. I was so impressed with all that I saw and it was a pleasure to meet so many residents. Anchor are delivering the highest standards involving all their staff in the care the residents receive. The well developed career pathways and the chance for progression also create a really supportive environment drawing on staff from the local communities. Anchor is a fantastic advocate for older people and those who work in our vital social care sector.”

Anchor’s Chief Executive Sarah Jones said:

“We were delighted to host Anne Milton’s visit. Residents and colleagues enjoyed chatting with her and I hope she was able to get a clear sense of the work we do to support both the local communities we serve and the colleagues who provide person-centred care

“Care homes play a hugely important role in supporting people to get the best from life while reducing pressure on health services and, as a not-for-profit organisation we reinvest our income into helping people to love living in later life.”

Anchor’s Linwood care home is a purpose-built residence designed to provide 24-hour residential care and support. It is set in a quiet location in its own beautiful grounds.
