Read: Lendlease commits to Levelling Up

The multinational construction company Lendlease has committed to levelling up the UK through a partnership with former Education Secretary Justine Greening.

The Levelling Up Goals, launched earlier this year, is the UK’s first levelling up framework to focus efforts on driving equality of opportunity at key life stages, and other barriers that can stifle opportunity.

It is the first major piece of work by some of the UK’s most purpose-led businesses, universities and public sector organisations, including Direct Line Group, bp, Compass Group, University Hospitals Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust and Liverpool John Moores University, that make up the Purpose Coalition.

The partnership will see Lendlease develop a Levelling Up Report, setting out its best practice and activity inline with the Levelling Up Goals, setting out how it is levelling up the UK at present and in the future.

Justine Greening said: “Lendlease has a strong track record as a purpose-led company that puts the creation of social value at the heart of its operations; and now it is setting out to both shape what ‘levelling up’ really means for those same communities, as well as setting out how it as a company is contributing to the levelling up agenda."

"The Levelling Up Goals give a clear architecture for purpose-led organisations to measure and articulate their purpose and impact. The challenge now is for businesses to recognise the wider role that they have to play in society and creating equality of opportunity as we recover from the pandemic.”
