Read: Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust commits to social impact framework
Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust (KMPT) has partnered with the Purpose Coalition and signed up to a new framework for measuring social impact.
In partnership with former Public Health Minister Rt Hon Anne Milton and former Education Secretary Rt Hon Justine Greening, KMPT will produce an Impact Report to measure its social impact using the architecture of the Purpose Goals.
Established last year, the Purpose Goals focus on key life stages - from early years through to adulthood, alongside other barriers to people getting on such as good health and wellbeing.
KMPT provides secondary mental health services to 1.8 million people across Kent and Medway. It will map its activities against the goals, highlighting areas of best practice and identifying what more could be done to make an impact on the communities it serves.
A number of NHS and public sector organisations are now measuring their social impact against the goals, as well as a range of private sector businesses and universities.
Justine Greening said: “NHS organisations play a key role within communities by spreading opportunities and tackling health inequalities. With one in four people in the UK experiencing mental health issues at some point in their lives, the work of Kent & Medway NHS & Social Care Partnership Trust is absolutely crucial to society.
“The Purpose Goals architecture is a tool for organisations, such as KMPT, that want to articulate their purpose and impact. It’s brilliant to be working with an organisation that is committed to its role as an anchor institution and supporting its patients, colleagues and communities.”
Helen Greatorex, Chief Executive, at KMPT, said: “With more than 3,600 staff serving over 1.8 million people, KMPT is perfectly placed to help make a significant contribution to communities across Kent and Medway. Be that helping to improve the quality of peoples’ lives, supporting our local economy, nurturing talent, embracing diversity or reducing our environmental impact - we have valuable insights, relationships and networks that can help make a positive difference.
“With the challenges many people are facing, there has never been a more important time for us to partner with the Purpose Coalition and show our commitment to be an anchor institution driving positive change.”
