Baggy Shanker MP visits local Derby care home
Derby South MP, Baggy Shanker, met residents and colleagues at Landemere care home to see how Purpose Coalition partner, Anchor, is delivering a positive social impact in his community.
The Labour MP, who was previously Leader of Derby City Council, was elected to Parliament for the first time in this summer’s general election.
Baggy Shanker MP was joined by Anchor Chief Executive, Sarah Jones, and enjoyed a tour of Landemere care home and chatted with residents and care colleagues to find out about the range of care services available at the home.
Anchor’s Chief Executive Sarah Jones said:
“We were delighted to host Baggy at Anchor’s Landemere care home, and both colleagues and residents enjoyed meeting him. We pride ourselves on the level of care provided to residents by our committed colleagues here, the quality of the facilities available and the part we play in serving the local community. It’s important that our local MP had the opportunity to see that for himself.
“The care sector is an essential part of our wider health service but, like the health service, it is facing a wide range of challenges as a result of ever-increasing demand. Landemere demonstrates how a not-for-profit provider can ensure quality, person-centred care at the heart of its community.”
Baggy Shanker MP said:
“During my visit to Landemere I could see the clear compassion, hard work, and sense of community shown by the staff. Their commitment to ensuring that residents feel valued and cared for is a testament to the exceptional spirit of our local care teams. It was a pleasure to see such kindness in action and to meet residents and listen to their views as their local MP."
Anchor’s Landemere care home is in its own private grounds, providing quality 24-hour care and a range of social activities.
